From the federal government’s Hospital Compare website to U.S. News and World Report’s annual rankings, there’s no shortage of hospital quality ratings for consumers to consult these days.
And while most Upstate hospitals scored a C or better on the latest of these — the fall 2018 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Report Card — Baptist Easley Hospital received a D.
The nonprofit Leapfrog Group is a national organization that collects and reports hospital performance data.
Of the more than 2,600 hospitals graded in the current report, 32 percent got an A, 24 percent a B, 37 percent a C, 6 percent a D and just under 1 percent an F, a spokeswoman said.
Bon Secours St. Francis Health System’s Downtown and Eastside campuses, Greer Memorial Hospital, Hillcrest Hospital in Simpsonville, and Oconee Memorial Hospital were among the area hospitals that got an A.
Greenville Memorial Hospital and Laurens County Memorial got a B, while AnMed Health in Anderson, Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System and Pelham Medical Center in Greer got a C.
The Regional Medical Center of Orangeburg and Calhoun counties is the only hospital in the state to get an F in the report.
